Draganic today

The territory of the district of Draganic is situated in the middle part of Croatia, in an easy touch with the very west situated part of the Panonska-plain, starting with the mountain-part of Croatia. Draganic, with its 73 square kilometre, takes the middle part of the Republic of Croatia, through which all important courses and ways pass and connect the eastern and western part as well as the north and the south of the state. About 3 thousand Draganic-residents live in 14 villages: Vrh Draganicki, Križancici, Draganici, Franjetici, Lazina, Barkovici, Jazvaci, Vrbanci, Budrovci, Darici, Mrzljaki, Goljak, Bencetici and Lug. Once, more than 5 thousand residents lived on that very district and in the whole Draganic-parish there were up to 7500 inhabitans. Nowadays there is a town-hall and a registrar's office, a doctor and a dentist, a post-office, a branch of the Karlovacka bank and there are some production works and some service offices and handicrafts which brought a big change regarding the former interest in agriculture.

The tame relief and region offers a number of possibilities regarding view, stay and recreative activities in different forms - in the western, higher part we've got the vineyards, wine-cellars, saint's monuments and, since a few years, there are marked bicycle ways where in the middle settled part various kinds of restaurnats are offered, there is the fish-hatchery and other waters where fishing can be practised, and in the low plain-wood, thousands of years old and mostly grown over with oak trees, you can practice hunting, search for mushrooms, and there are also set paths etc. Beside the a.m. characteristics we mustn't forget the undertaking-zones.

 
The first zone, called "Undertaking-service-centar", is in the centre of the district with some users of the place, ment for undertaking and services, with a social hall and the residence of some unions and the residence of the tourist-office. The second big zone, called "Cattle market" is in Lug, with a surface of 40.000 square metres, which can be extended, with a road-opproach, 300 metres far from the main street, with a water supply and a fire-plug, a power-supply and a transformer-station, pulled from the 10 KV-mains. Since the reorganisation of the district of Draganic a progress is visible, especially regarding the communal-fitting out, the economical, cultural and social situation, which is evident through ta large number of unions and their noteworthy work.
